Florence is located 60 miles west of Eugene on the Central Oregon Coast. Mercer Lake Resort is an easy 5 mile drive north of Florence on Highway 101, then just 3/4 mile east on Mercer Lake Road. The Pacific Ocean is just 4 miles away (as the seagull flies) so you can easily access one of the many lovely beaches within 15 minutes. There are miles of sandy beaches, so you can walk to your heart's content, and your feet's dismay! Florence offers many excellent dining and shopping opportunities. Visit Old Town... stroll the boardwalk to view the fishing boats... watch in awe as the river reveals what goes on around, and within, it's banks... Cross the bridge over the Siuslaw River, and you'll find a new spectrum of activities, including bumper boats, go-karts, and miniature golf. The ever-changing sand dunes have an appeal all their own. Take a ride out onto the dunes to really appreciate their expanse. Or better yet, try to climb one. Drive north from the resort, and you can... ride a horse on the beach or take a trail ride... visit Sea Lion Caves for an up-close and personal look at one of the natural caves that these creatures call home... tour the lighthouse at Heceta Head... enjoy the scenery on the drive to Yachats and back. This is one of my favorite drives... it's only 25 miles each way, and the view is unbelievable in both directions! Some of the many attractions in the area are listed below, with links to
their web sites.
